Do you have a tent you've only used twice or a digital camera gathering dust in a drawer? Or maybe you need a power drill to finish a project? Zilok, the world's largest peer-to-peer renting platform, might be exactly what you need to make money from the things you have and save money on the things you need only temporarily.

It's basically something of a Craigslist for people looking to rent out their belongings and people looking rent items. The service started in France and a few major cities in the States, but has recently announced its full U.S. service launch.

Using Zilok is straightforward. Type in what you are looking for and where you live. Find and item, set the time frame of the rental, and confirm the request with the retainer system. Next, pick up the item locally and pay the owner directly, and you're done. The cool thing about Zilok is that it lets you rent all sorts of items you might not easily find otherwise, whether you need a digital SLR camera for the weekend, are looking for an inflatable fun-house for a birthday party, or just want to borrow someone else's MacBook Air to try before you buy your own. The company also emphasizes that Zilok is helps the environment, by "cutting down on conspicuous consumption and encourage the reuse of everyday household items and electronics."

For an in-depth look at Zilok, check out the full review on PCmag.com.
